Clinton River trout artificially pumped in

November 21, 2011

The Clinton River is NOT capable of sustaining enough trout for anglers.
– despite encouraging fisherman to practice catch/release.

The DNR started back in 1985 introducing trout into the Clinton
– the effort creates profit through fish licenses
– it gets people to drive and spend gas i.e. tax revenue for the state
– it gets people to buy fishing equipment i.e sales tax revenue for the state
BUT it sure doesn’t produce massive amounts of little trout in the Clinton River

Update from November 30, 2011
If the DNR stopped stocking the Clinton River
– the trout population would disintegrate quickly.
It’s indeed an artificial situation sustained for over 25 years.
