Red Run shoals 2012

February 24, 2012

Shoals occur naturally from erosion and deposition of fine granular material;
extending into a body of water, creating a shallowing (shoaling) of the water.
Landslides can create shoals in a river which interfere with water flow.

Shoal removal will reduce sedimentation and improve water quality.
Part of the multi-million dollar effort will most likely
include excavation/dredging of the banks.

I took a walk on Thursday February 23, 2012 before snow hit Warren,MI.
Fresh tire tracks and an auger hole caught my attention.
The geo-textile fabric recently placed to avoid erosion
failed and a new landslide occurred.

Much of the planning for this project was done a few years ago
and is part of a much larger Inter-County Drain Board
~~ it is several pages long, scroll way, way down to see it all ~~~~
