Warren’s water balancing act

June 13, 2012

Managing a sewage collection and treatment system
is complex and expensive; with the public taking
notice only when things go wrong.
A balancing act ensues pitting a desire for
clean water against taxes and fees.

Michigan has a chronic under-funding
of its underground infrastructure.
The Clean Water State Revolving Fund,
provides the major source of federal funds
for sewer repair projects.

Fouts wrote Sander Levin on Dec. 2, 2011
requesting federal aid. He specifically asked
for Levin’s help in securing financial assistance
as Warren attempts to upgrade its
“50-year-old antiquated infrastructure that
cannot handle large volumes of water in a short time.”
