Bridge progress continues
The Ryan Road Red Run bridge is nearing a complete transformation
of it’s pedestrian walkways removing any chance of direct contact
with a vehicle moving at high speed.
Kids will still continue to explore – under the bridge – to get to the
opposite side of Ryan Road; instead of crossing over at Chicago Road.
Climbing over the broken rip-rap concrete blocks could be treacherous.
Sidewalks leading up to the bridge are also being updated and revised.
Hopefully the STOP sign on Heavenly Lane off Ryan Road gets moved as well.
A brick wall blocks the view of motorists who must slow down,
– before approaching the sidewalk area – from the side street.

As the bridge is still a Work-in-Progress project; perhaps crews will
consider cutting or grinding the threaded bolts sticking out from
the concrete barricades. They are a hazard grabbing peoples clothing.
Notice in the pics, the bolt heads are smooth for the automobiles,
but the pedestrians get the protruding threads and nuts from the rails
as they walk, jog, cycle, push strollers, push wheelchairs, etc., etc.
-IF a car hits the concrete or metal, it gets scratched; regardless.
Why wouldn’t the smooth bolt heads be put on the pedestrian side ?
Will a kid’s bicycle handlebars get stuck in the fence ? Time will tell.
Snow is coming in the next few months. Does the City of Warren plan on
keeping this new pedestrian walkway free of snow buildup ?
The City of Warren does own the bridge structure and is responsible for it.
