Stuck in the 1990’s Infrastructure

October 21, 2017

The 12TownsDrain was built a long,  long time ago, and had improvements over the years. It goes by the name GWK Retention Basin Facility, but I fear it is still stuck in the early 1990’s infrastructure mode of reporting info to the public.  Macomb County residents don’t really get a “true” understanding of the “mixture” volume entering the Red Run Drain into Warren for any given rainstorm. Some of it is sewage going through screens, some of it stormwater bypassing the screens – but mixing with “treated” sewage as it enters the Open Channel continuing for 8 miles into the Clinton River.

The open channel drain from Dequindre, near Chicago Road, in Warren, flowing towards the Freedom Hill concert venue, and merging with the Clinton River near Fraser. This “path” has been proposed as a cycling/hiking path connecting the two counties.
